DoorDash has become a brand as much as a service, how the Delivery Giant Became #1

In the first of a three-part series exploring how DoorDash became the dominant third-party delivery aggregator in the U.S., an article on Restaurant Dive talks about how the CEO and Founder of EyeSpy, Mistie Boulton helped DoorDash co-founders Tony Xu, Andy Fang and Stanley Tang when they first reached out to pitch their delivery product idea in 2013 to Silicon Valley angel investor Oren Dobronsky.

A devoted restaurateur, Mistie worked with Oren as part owner of Oren’s Hummus (she is also the CEO), a Mediterranean fast casual concept with over a half dozen locations in the Bay Area. Mistie oversees day-to-day business operations for Oren’s Hummus – in fact, Oren’s Hummus was one of the very first restaurants to partner with DoorDash.

Mistie has years of experience in the restaurant business, having been the Director of Operations for PFS Restaurants from 1993-2001 and overseen regional restaurant locations prior to her time at Oren’s.

This experience led Mistie to create EyeSpy Critiquing & Consulting – a bay-area restaurant and hospitality consulting company that offers Mystery Shopping and other operational support services to restaurants, hospitality and delivery companies – like DoorDash.

DoorDash selected Mistie to interview the CEO and Co-Founder, Tony Xu in 2021 for the 2021 Main Street Strong Restaurant Event held by DoorDash. The hour long session covered many topics, from restaurant fees to Dasher tips. Watch the full interview here:
